All resident meal plans include a Dining Dollars component. Many commuter meals plans also include Dining Dollars. Student Dining Dollars account are tax-free, so you save 8.75% (New York State and local taxes) when you spend Dining Dollars instead of cash in our food courts and snack bars. When you use your UB card for food purchases outside your meal plan, the card readers are pre-programmed to use Dining Dollars first. If allowable, Campus Cash will be used. We also have discounts and food specials exclusively for Dining Dollars users, which is another great way to save. Plus, you have the convenience of using your UB Card whenever you want a snack or a meal. What you spend is immediately deducted from your balance, and your remaining balance is displayed at the register after your purchase, so you always know how much you have left.

If you use up your Dining Dollars before the end of a semester, you may simply add more in increments of $25.

Dining Dollars balances associated with your Dining Plan will transfer from the fall to spring semester only if a spring semester Dining Plan is purchased. The Fall balance will be automatically added to the spring Dining Dollar starting balance of any valid plan. If a plan is canceled for the spring semester, the Dining Dollars balance from the fall semester will be forfeited. All Dining Dollars expire at the end of the spring semester per NYS tax regulations.

Faculty Dining Dollars

The Faculty plan allows you to grab something to eat at any Campus Dining & Shops location and most of our vending machine without having to carry cash.

Here's How it Works
The Faculty Dining Dollars plan is a prepaid taxable debit account that is accessible only with your UB Card. You use your UB Card the same as you would use a debit or credit card at a supermarket. The card is read at the cash register or vending machine. The amount of the a la carte purchases are deducted and your remaining balance is displayed. It's that easy.

How to Open an Account
Stop by either UB Card Office, Suite 104 Harriman Hall on the South Campus or Suite 211 UB Commons on the North Campus. An account opened in person is active right away. You can also open an account online. Simply fill out the online application and your account will be activated within one business day.

A Faculty Dining Dollars account can be opened with as little as $75, then you can add anytime in increments of $25. As an added bonus, when you deposit $200 or more to your account you will be given an additional 10% to spend. You will also get discounts and special food promotions throughout the school year. Dining Dollars for Faculty and Staff are taxable. Dining Dollars for Faculty and Staff do not expire and will continue to carry over year to year until you officially leave the University.

  • Your account may only be accessed by using your UB Card.
  • Neither your UB Card nor your Dining Dollars are transferable.
  • If your card is lost or stolen, you are responsible for its use until it is reported. Report a Lost Card.
  • There are no fees or charges for using this account.
